ISLAY of SKYE BREWERY Wee Beast
Scotland
A buzz is brewing in Scotland about this fantastic beer from the Isle of Skye Brewery, which was
established in April 1995, the first commercial brewery in Skye and the Western Isles. Known in
Scotland as “Cuillin Beast,” this deep, dark ale is rich, beguiling, and just a wee bit ferocious. Its
fruitiness, sweetness and dry caramel belie its strength. It has won many awards in competitions
and at festivals throughout the UK. Legend has it that the great warrior of Celtic legend, Cuchulain,
was oft accompanied by a fierce dog-beast that was said to have once wandered the jagged
mountains of Skye . . . and so it is that this fine ale takes its name.

CONISTON Bluebird Bitter
England
Coniston Bluebird Bitter is a remarkable success story. The Coniston Brewery is the micro brewery
of the Black Bull Inn at Coniston in Cumbria in the heart of the Lake District. It was here that
brewers Ian Bradley and Rob Irwin created this superb beer, which first got to be known to an
increasing fan club of locals and visitors. Bluebird is glorious golden bitter of an average strength at
4.2% abv. The taste is quite dry and slightly resinous and is intensified by a strong hop aroma from
the large quantity of predominantly English Challenger hops. The barley malt used is the classic
Maris Otter, hence the superbly smooth slightly fruity taste. Best of Show Winner several years
running at the Great British Beer Festival, this is quite simply, a wonderful beer.
